    Algae Inhibition

If you have a product that is exposed to water on a frequent basis, the chance for algae to form is high. This is especially problematic in states like Florida where rain is an almost everyday occurrence. We have several patents that can eliminate algae from a variety of surfaces including concrete, tile, glass and metal through the use of photocatalytic destruction.

    Construction

UCF has many licensable patents available in the area of commercial and residential construction. These products were designed to create stronger, more reliable bridges, buildings, and homes.

    Hardware/Software

Much of our currently available technology in digital data processing falls under the category of hardware or software. We have methods to do priority rule searching, code converting for data compression/decompression, natural language searches, and text relevancy in databases. Also available for licensing are some new developments in information storage.

    Human Feature Detection

With the security concerns of today and the need to quickly communicate information between security agencies, Human Feature Detection can be an important tool. By utilizing the power of the digital camera and coupling it with the Human Feature Detection software identifying persons of interest in any environment is possible.

    HVAC

Helping to keep air flowing, our researchers have developed several improvements to conventional HVAC systems that control moisture in air handling systems.

    Hydrogen Enriched Motor Fuel

UCF is pushing forward towards the day when hydrogen will be as common as unleaded gas. We currently incorporate natural gas with hydrogen for the use in internal combustion engines. This method could be used in today's vehicles with only minor modifications.

    Hydrogen Production

In looking to the future our researchers have come up with several approaches to producing Hydrogen for use in a "Hydrogen Economy". We can produce hydrogen through the electrolysis of water as well as a closed cycle photocatalytic method.

    Infrared

With applications stretching from the military to space exploration to public entertainment, infrared is fast becoming a desired technology. Some of our licensable technologies include: tunable antenna-coupled infrared detectors, detectors with polarization tuning, and long wavelength infrared laser systems using Nd:YAG or Cr:LiSAF.

    Lasers

Lasers are being used in the marketplace to provide power, to measure objects as small as atoms, and to cut and weld materials. Lasers are becoming an important part of the global economy.

    Manufacturing

Using technology to increase productivity is critical to the manufacturing process.

    Materials

UCF has researchers producing some of the most basic elements as well as next generation materials that could be used in a wide range of applications.

    Measuring and Testing

Today's industry leaders rely on getting high quality products tested and delivered to the consumer in the shortest time possible. Our researchers are working on providing the fastest and most exact measuring and testing devices possible. Some examples include: scanning heterodyne acousto-optical interferometers, dual-beam low-coherence interferometers, Fourier-transform spectrometers with added time-resolving capability, and other apparatus and methods for measuring and testing devices.

    Medical Devices

Through Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and a spectral interferometry imaging probe, diagnosing skin and cervical cancer can be done in vivo, eliminating pap smears followed by colposcopy.

    Miscellaneous

Some of the University's intellectual property does not fall into any discernible group. These technologies range from airport surface detection systems, to measuring gas emission from soil.

    Optics

Communication, defense, entertainment, and numerous other industries are incorporating optics in their latest products. UCF owns an array of devices available doe licensing including polarization based optical scanners, image acquisition through multi-mode fiber, rotary optical coupler, optical signal coupling apparatus as well as display mediums using particles in a transparent host.

    Optical Communication

Pushing the boundaries of communication beyond terra firma, our researchers are developing instruments like multiwavelength modelocked semiconductor diode lasers, optical controllers, as well as high power solid-state regenerative amplifiers which are applicable for the communication field.

    Photocatalytic and Thermocatylitic Pollution Control

Sunlight, as well as heat, can be powerful allies in pollution control. By combining these elements with a variety of processes we have achieved the ability to reduce pollution significantly from many sources.
