Dr. Svetlana Shtrom is currently directing the commercial development of life sciences technologies at UCF’s Office of Research & Commercialization. Svetlana has over 10 years of experience in life sciences with expertise in business development and technology management. She has broad experience in the structuring and negotiation of collaborative partnerships, strategic planning, market assessment, technology evaluation, and intellectual property management.
Svetlana’s business development experience includes leadership roles in academia, government, and industry. Prior to joining UCF, she consulted for biotechnology companies and venture capital firms in business growth and technology evaluation. Also previously, she managed business development at an emerging biotechnology company focused on development and manufacture of clinical diagnostics. Before working in biotechnology industry, she was a Technology Transfer Specialist at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) where she facilitating partnerships with the extramural community, including industry, academia and non-profit organizations.
Svetlana holds an MBA from UCF. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health, and received a Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of California at San Francisco and a B.S. in molecular genetics from the Ohio State University
