Nano Discovery, Inc.
Orlando, FL (September 7, 2012) – Nano Discovery Inc. is a University spin-out company formed to commercialize technology developed by Dr. Qun (Treen) Huo, a University of Central Florida (UCF) professor. Dr. Huo and her team discovered a new technique for chemical and biological detection and analysis using gold nanoparticle optical probes coupled with dynamic light scattering, which they called NanoDLSay™ – Nanoparticle-enabled Dynamic Light Scattering Assay. This one-step homogeneous immunoassay method is extremely easy to conduct, offers high sensitivity, and requires only small volumes of sample solutions for analysis. Nano Discovery also developed a high-throughput dynamic light scattering instrument especially designed for conducting NanoDLSay™.
The Technology Transfer team in the Office of Research and Commercialization at UCF worked with the inventor, Dr. Huo, to protect her discoveries through several patent applications. Dr. Huo formed Nano Discovery and then licensed the technology from UCF to the company in 2009. That same year, her company was accepted into the UCF Business Incubation Program.
Nano Discovery Inc. is dedicated to the development and commercialization of this platform biodetection technology. The company’s team of researchers and scientists develop and conduct immunoassays on a wide range of biomolecular targets for research and future clinical applications. Highlighted below are a few unique applications of NanoDLSay™ for protein research:
Monitor:
Real-time monitoring of protein-protein (antibody-antigen) interaction
Size:
Distinguish target protein as a monomer, complex, or aggregate
Detect:
Protein complex detection and binding partner screening
